Will Pearce is based in a studio in rural central Germany where he specialises in multi-layered, limited edition screen prints on paper and individual works in a variety of mediums.

He was born in London but grew up in Durban, South Africa, his father a man of the sea and his mother an artist. He left school to go to art-college and later studied textile design and screen-printing.

After he finished studying he worked in a record store and as an occasional freelance textile designer. He moved to the UK in 1998 and started working at Tower Records, he later spent a number of years working for an indie film festival after which he decided to get back into screen printing with a focus on flat stock. In 2015 he moved to Germany with his family and a truck-load of screen printing equipment.

His work displays a wide range of influences from the various subcultures he has been a part of and encountered over the years, including those from music and film. The often gloomy mood and dark lines of his prints are offset by appealing colours and bold layering, with varying subject matter and an often eclectic style.

FAQ

How do you create your prints/work?

I use a combination of ink/pen on paper and digital software. I usually draw the detail/top layer with ink on paper, completed illustrations are scanned into Photoshop where I’ll edit – using a graphics tablet - tidy up lines and add under lying colour layers. If I feel a print lends itself to it, I may do a variant.

Can I buy an old print, do you reproduce work?

All prints are limited edition and I’ll probably always keep them limited, under 200 I think. I do my own printing and for me an open edition and the idea of potentially endlessly printing the same work, is not appealing, I need to be creating and printing new work. So, nope, once something is sold out that’s it, there won’t be anymore.

Do you screen print other artists work, could you do a run for me?

No, sorry dudes, I just do my own stuff but I may be up for doing a collaboration with another artist.

Can you design and print a gig poster or record sleeve for my band?

Totally, I would happily consider gig posters or record sleeves etc. Contact me (info@bloodredshed.com) and we can arrange a chat.
